Table Coverings Competition - 2016

Scroll down the page to see the images then click on an individual image to learn a little more about it.

The title for this competition was given as "Table Coverings" rather than "Table Cloths" to give entrants more choice of technique, also allowing for more diverse historical interpretations. This is clearly visible in the wonderful variety of the pieces which were submitted.

The MNS owes a big "Thank you" to judge Clare Clensy, a fully qualified embroiderer who graduated from the Royal School of Needlework at Hampton Court in 2000, after a three-year apprenticeship, and now runs her own embroidery business Vine Embroidery, also taking classes and workshops.

With just 14 entries there was a wide variety of designs and techniques. These were on display at Spring Miniatura 2017 and will be in the MNS display at "A World in Miniature" at Houghton Hall.
