The Miniature Needlework Society (International) was founded in 1997 to encourage all forms of miniature work with needle and thread, as in embroidery of every kind, knitting, crochet, tatting, lace making etc. The Society now has over 500 members worldwide, with a large representation in Great Britain, the United States, The Netherlands and Australia.
A newsletter is published twice each year, giving details of forthcoming events, sources of materials, charts, competitions, patterns to work and members' news. The Society holds Regional Workshops where members can discuss their projects and plans with expert needleworkers. Australian members have formed their own branch of the MNS, and publish their own newsletter as well as receiving the UK issues for those members who want them.
All classes cater for mixed abilities and beginnners are especially welcome. Informal group meetings are also held in members' homes. Exhibitions of members' work are displayed regularly at Miniatura and other dolls' house shows.
The Society is run by a committee of 10 members. Points discussed in committee are minuted to all members of the Society by post and they are encouraged to make comments and suggestions. Voting is done by ballot.
